maypole_Greece

12 dancers are holding a maypole (strip, ribbon) and are dancing simultaneously in couples, singing a traditional greek song.

The number 12 suggests the 12 months of the year.

The circular dance symbolises the switching of the four seasons of the year.

To the greek community, the Maypole symbolises peace, concord, collaboration and co-responsibility.

Our school Maypole consists of eight colourful ribbons, one for each collaborate country in the European programme Erasmus+. Our students` dance in the schoolyard through the Greek Carnival, sends a message of reconciliation , partnership, co-responsibility between students and teachers from France, Bulgaria, Slovenia, Slovakia, Latvia, Spain and Portugal.

Hippocrates_Global warming_ health_Greece

our students continue to research and find these…

the ancient Greek physician knew that temperature differences, hot and cold winds, weather and climate change affect human health.

“Whoever would study medicine aright must learn of the following subjects. First he must consider the effect of each of the seasons of the year and the differences between them. Secondly he must study the warm and the cold winds, both those which are common to every country and those peculiar to a particular locality....” Hippocrates, “Airs, Waters, Places”, 400 bc.
