The primary school of Verdikoussa, Elassona, is situated in a rural and mountainous region in Larissa Prefecture, in central Greece (at an altitude of about 980m).
The village is 64kms away from the city of Larissa, which is the capital of Thessaly, 35 kms away from Elassona and 47 kms from Tirnavos.
The school was built in 1927 and it's an elegant stone building with six classrooms. Most of the students attending it live in the centre of the village, but some students move back and forth daily, as they live on the nearby, organized livestock farms.
The majority of the families in Verdikoussa have many children, members of which work hard every day to make ends meet, they're distinguished by their hospitality, sense of honour, urge to offer and increased religious beliefs.
In our school, there have been two Erasmus+ programmes carried out since 2015, with numerous actions and teachers' visits from 15 European countries, giving a European "face" to the village.
Verdikoussa, a European village, in accordance with the school's profile, and students, along with teachers, working daily, consistently and orientating to the common European perspective.
