Women's International Day

Poem dedicated to all Women

adapted from a Portuguese poem from  Florbela Espanca
- also a remarcable women and poetess from the 20 century - ( 1894/1930)

To be a WOMAN is to be taller
It is to be greater than Men!
Biting like a kisser!
It is being a beggar and giving as who is
King of the Kingdom of Above and Beyond Pain!
It is to have a thousand desires of splendor
And do not even know what You want!
It is to have within you  a star in flames,
It is  to have condor wings and claws!
It is to have hunger and thirst of Infinity!
To have for helm, the mornings of gold and satin...
Ando to condense the world into a single scream!
And it is loving you, so desperately...
Being soul, blood and life in me
And saying it singing to all the world!
Florbela Espanca (adapted)
